My Old Life
Hi my name is Lyndsey and I am eight years old. My dad just fell out of his bed. Hes not breathing normally. Somthings wrong!
It all started with when I was just sitting down watching T.V. with my grandpa. This was after dinner. My grandpa started drifting off and he soon fell asleep (probably from all of those drinks he drank.) Anyways, I hear this yell from my dads room down the hallway, he screams, Lyndsey dial 911 quickly, and tell them what happened to me now! I nodded in reassurance as I ran down the hall.
I dialed 9-1-1 quickly and I got a pick-up they said, Hello this is 911 do you have an emergency?
Yes I do, my dad has fallen off of his bed and hes not breathing normally. I said.
Alright sweetie just stay calm your daddy will be fine, may I ask you your phone number and address?
Yeah its 1742 S. Avenida Planeta Tucson, AZ 85710 and the phone number is (520)-747-5015.
Thanks hun, now who are you home with?
Im home with my grandpa and my daddy. I replied
Okay, she said well be there in a minute or two.
Thank you very much! I said.
No problem kiddo!
I go out to my grandpa and try and wake him up I say, Grandpa wake up! and I shake him a bit. He finally wakes up and I tell him what happened he just shakes his head and says, Oh okay. It didn't seem like he cared much. Shortly after the paramedics arrived my mom got home from work, she asked what happened and I told her. Her face immediately became pale with a blank expression on it, she mumbled to herself, "I knew this day would come." I slumped down on the couch not knowing what to think. My dad was there next to me. He seemed fine and the paramedics were asking my mom and grandpa and him all of these questions the last one I remember was, "Which hospital would you like to go to?" He said TMC (Tucson Medical Center, where my mom worked as a nurse.) Sure enough he got in the back of the ambulance and me and my mom went in the car. My grandpa stayed home because he was still pretty woozy ya know?
In the driveway my mom was all teared up, we walked inside and my mom said I could lay down on one of the beds in the multipurpose room although before I did I wanted to see my dad, I got to see him he was laying down in a bed with nurses crowded around him and the doctor standing close by. They all moved away when they saw me, my dad motioned with his hand to come forward to him, his body was covered in tubes and I heard beeping everywhere. He whispered in a calm soft voice, Everything is going to be fine boo boo, now go get your rest, you have school tomorrow." I went as I peered at my dad through the door, he smiled and my mom did too. She sat close by my dad holding his hand, sitting on a red chair by the edge of the bed. Something told me as I walked down the hallway everything was going to turn out great but the other part of me felt alone and scared like something terrible was going to happen.
Every one of my moms friends and some people I didnt even know smiled at me, staring. I didn't know what to think of it. I fell into the bed and drifted off asleep. It took me awhile to actually fall asleep though...with all of the commotion. I suddenly woke up when my moms sweet voice said my name, I slept for an hour. My mom said calmly with a red face, Your daddys visiting heaven sweetheart. My face turned as white as a ghost no expression, silence...I was shocked, and I didnt know what type of reaction I was supposed to have. I just got up and didnt say anything
holding back tears. My mom took me outside to see everyone else and bent down to my level, Its fine youll...well be fine. I felt a tear or two fall on my shoulder. As she stood up she turned around I saw all of the faces of my family relatives with red faces looking at me at least trying to smile.
My mom told me that he was close to dying, but we knew for sure he would. The next day the doctors told us what was wrong they figured it out, he had a blood clot in his brain, the choice was we could suck it out of his brain over and over again and hed soon turn into a vegetable, or we could take all of the tubes off of him and we could let him go on his own to reunite with his heavenly father. We chose the second one of course. Because he told us a long while ago if he ever got in a situation like this hed rather die. And thats what was going to happen. At about 2 o clock in the morning we got a call saying he was gone. We cried but it was like all the pressure was being lifted from our shoulders.
That was 4 years ago. I am 13 now and living with my aunt in California, what happened to my mom you say? Well thats another long story
